Fun new kitchen toy

This new little kitchen toy is the BEST!! I've always wanted one of these, because I love making fresh pasta. I do have an Atlas hand crank, but in this kitchen, it is very difficult to clamp on to a work surface, so I kind of gave up on fresh pasta. That is until now! If you are contemplating getting this attachment for your KA, do it.
This was so easy and made it so simple, that I rolled the pasta out minutes before dinner.First I made the dough in a food processor, super simple. You basically whirl 1 1/2 cups flour and two eggs, until it comes together .You can do it with a dough hook in your...
mixer, but I didn't like the results with that, so I'm sticking with the food processor.(or you can do it by hand)
I also used this Italian flour, marked tipo "oo". What a great result with this flour. I think it makes a huge difference in the taste of the pasta, and for me there is no going back.
I made papradelle for a lamb ragu that David made.
End result: Cozy winter dish.

  2. back again regarding your comment on our blog. i think your photos are wonderful and the subjects contained within them fantastic. i worked on the pink images for hours and didn't think i had anything at all.

with your camera make sure the lens is set to automatic. probably located on the left side of the lens. maybe it was switched to manual by accident.

when that locking up happens to me, i'm too close to the subject and need to back up a little bit. i hope you can figure it out. might be worth taking it to a friendly camera store.

  3. I don't even have a Kitchen Aid Mixer YET, so I don't want to hear about....unless I can come over and eat some of that delicious looking pasta with you. Should I bring white or red wine? I'll make the garlic bread.

  6. I had no idea this existed, and I want it!!! This would be cheaper than buying pasta! Where did you get the flour? I am wondering if I can find it around me...

  7. Nice! I'll have to consider it for my KA. The hand crank leaves me cranky so I don't use it much. How's the clean up? The pasta looks beautiful.

  10. It looks fabulous Elizabeth, and I'm envious of David's Lamb Ragu.

I usually make pasta with my hand crank, but I'll definitely consider this for the KA. (I'm a fan of the F/P method too.) Your pasta looks perfect! What a lovely dinner ~ I would be so happy with that!

Off topic... did you feel the earthquake centered in Ferndale/Eureka last Saturday?

We did. I understand it was felt as far south as Salinas.

I discovered the hanging pot rack in the kitchen can make quite a statement as an indoor "wind chime". :(
