My "Princess and the Pea" bed

The above picture is the before.....notice the small picture in the center, and the level of the lamps.
This is the after...It is super high, and when I stand next to it, it almost reaches my waist! I think I will need a step stool to get in it after I have my hip surgery. We lost the bed frame, as it was a European size frame that we bought while living in France. I hunted high and low for a bed frame that would fit the style I was looking for, but had no luck finding a Cal King frame I liked. We really love the bed so far, it is an "Aireloom"
I found this beautiful bed skirt at Garnet Hill . I was so happy that they had this color, and how it is scalloped like my French quilt. Now that it is all set up, I don't think we need a bed frame. The bed crown acts as a headboard feature of sorts.

We also had to buy a chair that I could get in and out of easily, and this one is perfect! The height of it and how it reclines is perfect. This was from Crate and Barrel, it is called "Tracy" leather recliner. I think I am now set for maximum comfort while I convalesce .
On another topic, not too long ago, I received the new Marie Claire Idees, and noticed that it was a bit early. I then saw on the cover that they are now moving up to 6 issues instead of 4. I hope the quality stays the same. This issue had nothing in it that I wanted to make, but it was pretty.

Hopefully I will get my camera back soon. I have a frustrating story to share with you all on a future post...stay tuned.

  3. Dude what I wouldn't give to have my husband to be on board to have a bed like that. SOOO pretty!!! Sadly, he is a plain jane when it comes to bedroom stuff. Last summer I wanted to make a quilt with yellows and oranges and reds - he totally rejected the idea. You have inspired me further Elizabeth! One of my goals for 2010 is to put some serious effort into making our bedroom nicer - seeing this really helps me to think on track!! xo

  6. Well, Princess, you have a beautiful bed in which to recuperate but I bet you will be up and about before you know it. I think your surgery is a great decision.
