Little shout out to Brad, my physical therapist

Day 113/365: I'll fly away

Today was my last day with Brad, my PT. He has been very helpful in my recovery, and has given me the tools to move forward. Not only did he help with exercise, but he gave me confidence to just get on with it.
I must admit I was a bit pouty today, and feeling sorry for myself, and not in the mood for anything. Brad gave me a good pep talk and pushed me out the door! Literally! I kept telling him at my other sessions that I may go out today, and then I didn't. Today was the day! As we had our final session, he made me get in the car and leave with Dave to get some lunch. I really needed that I think. I was going to sit in the car, since it was raining, but instead, I got out. It was so nice to see all the familiar faces at the store, and new items, like these amazing little marble size potatoes in several colors! Wow, I have been in the house too long!
So, thanks Brad!! You are a great PT! Just what I needed. I had fun chatting with you too, and if you keep checking in on my blog,
sometime soon, you may see a picture of me on here without the cane! I also promise to sit at the dinner table tonight , and try not to bring the plate to me ;) hee hee.

  1. I take it that store was Whole Foods? Little potatoes? I'm going tomorrow. I'm working on a blog post on some salads I made yesterday but haven't finalized it yet. Hmm, wonder why it's showing? I'll try to figure that out and/or post it for real soon.

Glad you are getting out. Maybe next week a little retail therapy might do wonders. Are there retail therapists?

    Best,
    Bonnie

  2. Good for you! By the way, I saw those potatoes when I picked up lunch the other day. Daniel thought the colors were cool, I had to agree. Take care!

  4. yay for brad and for you! it's not surprising that you get discouraged because it's hard and sometimes a little self-pity is ok. i was doing it myself yesterday, but told scott to make sure i didn't keep on with it today.

sounds like you'll make it to target, tomorrow. if you get tired, maybe you can use one of those scooters ;). have fun! we're staying up late to see if it hits the web at 12:01, but will be taking a nap this afternoon. we can barely stay up until 11 pm. xo, c

  5. When I hear about people like Brad, it makes me want to do a 180 and devote my life to a job that is way more altruistic. Hats off to Brad! Anything and anyone who gets our dear Elizabeth back to her old self and physically better is a hero is our book.

  6. Elizabeth, I have missed you! It's Kate, formerly of The Front Porch, in Portland, Oregon. I was so worried when I just checked in after all these months and saw your post about physical therapy! I am relieved now to see that you are recovering. I retired my former blog after I got married and have recently started a new one. So thankful to be back in touch with you. Please be well. I will keep stopping by to see how you are.

  8. Glad you are making progress. Before you know it you'll be 100% and this will just be a distant memory. Always nice to have some good support around you to help with your recovery. Maybe next step will be back in the kitchen making something with the tiny potatoes and posting about it? :)

    Get better soon!

    Warmly,
    Nancy

  9. No tiny potatoes at our Whole Foods. So, until they (I hope) get some, I'll just close my eyes and see you enjoying yours perfectly steamed and salted. I did snag quite a few goodies including my favorite seaweed salad and skate wing for dinner. I treated myself to a stop at Anthropologie as a consolation prize. I needed a few spring "things" to dress up my table.

    Best,
    Bonnie

  12. Thanks for the shout out. It was an absolute pleasure working with you! I am really happy to see that you made it to your Liberty of London opening. Nothing like Target providing just the right incentive.

I'll be waiting to see that picture of you at some hip new store sporting some really cool shoes and no cane in sight!

    All the best!
    Brad
