At long last

I finally cut into the Liberty of London fabric, and finished my shirt! It is the Cynthia Rowley pattern, I blogged about last month. After a few adjustments, I really like how it fits and can I just say, that if I had some more play money, I'd buy yards and yards of Liberty fabric! That stuff sews like a dream.
I bought this little belt at Gap, and I think it goes well.
I read up on this pattern, on pattern review, and everyone that made it, stated that you should not over think the neck line. I get what they mean. You could take hours trying to sculpt it perfectly. I messed with it a bit, until I liked it, and then settled on the above.
On a side note, I just got this in the mail, and I'm super excited to make some of the cakes in here, especially the Miette cake. The one that they are best known for(the vanilla tomboy). She met up with the bakers, and they gave up the recipe for this book. I love baking so much, and I've never had a real good Cake cookbook, so I decided to treat myself and get this one. It is the same author of the "Cake Bible." I have looked through that book before, but it didn't have all the eye candy that I was looking for. This one does, and all her expertise as well.
Does anyone own this cookbook, or the Cake Bible? Tell me what is you favorite cake.

  6. You are my newest shopping enabler! The Girl and the Fig and Dona Tomas are now in my library. I liked them a lot when I was out but we were traveling light. I never got around to ordering them until you mentioned them recently. And, for Andrew, a little treat (for me too), Tartine. He loves to bake. Even though I love that blouse, I won't be buying up any patterns or fabric until after I finish the blouse I started in 7th grade home ec--many, many, many years go.

    Happy 4th!

    Best,
    Bonnie

P.S. Don't think I ever answered your question about my slipcovers. No, I didn't have the guys redo them. I probably should have, but their shop was way out in the middle of nowhere, only open on weekdays, and to be honest, I just didn't feel like dealing with it.

  9. I saw that you stopped in for a visit - way,way back in my archives. If you like the pillow cases I found a great blog called You Go Girl (on my blog list) that has a tutorial for them -unfortunately it was AFTER I had finished making them. I posted here for two reasons- 1 : I have the same book and was equally excited when I got it. & 2: I read that your husband had a birthday celebration with the tres leches cake. Rose has a recipe for that in her book - if you try it let me know how it turns out. Carolina
