Don't under estimate the lowly carnation

I went to Costco and bought A LOT of carnations. I wanted to make sure that I had enough to make my topiary. I did not want to be short at all and figured that I could make other arrangements with the left overs.
I soaked a couple blocks of oasis, and started to carve the cone for the tree shape.
I continued carving as I went, when I thought it needed it..........
Then it was a matter of filling in the rows until you got to the top.
I had lots of fun making it, and the smell of carnations is so sweet, and not at all over powering.
In another picture I shot of it, the variegated ones looked like baby pink, and I started to worry it looked like a child's theme tree. I then added red, and then some little Christmas balls. Luckily I had some green ones as well.
Can't wait to put the whole table together on Christmas day. Tune in for the whole look later, and remember, never under estimate the lowly carnation!

  8. Cuando mis hijas y yo vimos el centro floral de vuestra mesa, pensamos: la madre es una artista. Y así es.
