I had such a lovely birthday last Friday! Couldn't have asked for a better day I must say. I started the morning Skypeing with Nicole, then spent a very leisurely rest of the day with David. I was surprised with beautiful flowers and a very sweet ring that David gave me, a handmade card from Caitlin (it wouldn't be a birthday without one), cupcake, and a fabulous dinner at Chez Panisse with Caitlin and Cyrous. I would say I did more than alright :)
Some of you may know that Chez Panisse had a fire this past spring that left the front of the restaurant ruined. The pictures above show a little of the new addition and renovation that they made. There were some very slight changes they made to the inside, but not many. I loved the new little candle lamps at each table. This time Caitlin and I were brave and walked back into the kitchen, like we have seen so many others do, but felt a bit shy in the past. This year I decided, what the heck, lets do it! I'm glad we did, because we got to see where the magic happens :) Loved the pastry area and the gigantic stove. If you get the chance to dine at Chez Panisse, it is so worth walking into the open kitchen to take a peek.
This past weekend I bought some more wool for capes. I have sold all the 4/5 capes, and I thought I would get some more made up, since I haven't started on another item yet. I am doing a special order soon but until then, I may whip up a couple more capes to have ready for the holidays. I'll be cutting and sewing tomorrow and trying to catch up with some work.
We painted Caitlin's room over the weekend and it will be turned into the guest room. I'll do a before and after for fun. We are getting the bed this weekend hopefully and then I'll start putting it together. Thank goodness for Ikea right?!
Your birthday sounds fabulous, and what lovely gifts you received...oh that ring! Of course, getting to spend the day with family is always what makes the day special for me. And I have to say, you look about 10 years younger than you are - beautiful!
