Before we say good bye to Valentine's day.........

I had it in my head that I wanted to make Valentine cupcakes this year, but decided that the shortbread was enough, and that we really didn't need anymore sweets around the house. That was until, my oldest(Nicole), called me up and said that they would like to come to dinner on Sunday, and meet a new friend of theirs. I thought, hey, there is my opportunity to make cupcakes and extend the holiday. The above cupcake is chocolate, with vanilla butter cream. I tinted the frosting a pale pink, and added these cute little candy heart decorations. I now feel that I got it all out of my system! I made Valentine cards, decorated the house with a few newer items,as well as a heart cut out chain, and baked! Now on to planning for Easter :)
On Valentine's day, David and I wandered Berkeley, and we ended up at Anthropologie. I have been wanting these wine glasses for some time now, mainly for the delicate art nouveau etchings on them. This isn't the best picture, but if you click on it, you may see them better. I love how thin they are and their shape.
Later, we drove into the city for dinner and had a very lovely time at Cafe de la Press.
I hope everyone had a nice cozy Valentine's day.

  5. Kelly, yes that is a metal cupcake holder. I love it because when it is all put together it looks like a wedding cake almost. If you want to see it all in one piece, go to my archives in June, and you will see it all done up for my daughter's high school graduation. I also have a smaller one.

Melissa, I too cannot wait to see what Williams Sonoma has this year for Easter! I may get the glasses this year, if they have those adorable bunnies again. I'm using the toile table cloth I bought last spring for Easter this year.

  6. Elizabeth, I love your blog. :)

    The cupcake looks yummie!

Oh my~ I've been looking at those very glasses at anthropologie on line!! (Since I moved from the bay area, no anthropologie store near me.) *sigh*

I have a dilemma, maybe you can help? Did you get the water goblets, or the wine size? It's so difficult for me to judge proportions from their web images. Yours look like the size I need, but I can't exactly discern which ones they are.

Thanks so much for any help you can offer. xo~m.

Oh, and I adore your twin candelabras! Can you please tell me about them? They are LOVELY. I've admired them in several of your beautiful photos. :)

  8. Hi again Elizabeth ~ Thanks so much for coming by my blog and for all of your help!

I was leaning towards the smaller glasses, so you made my decision a lot easier. It's challenging when I can't actually see/touch/hold them myself so your guidance is really appreciated. :)

Ah yes, I AM familiar with the company who made the candelabras. I actually have some tabletop accessories and outdoor cushions made by them. *sigh* I doubt they still make that style of candelabra ~ so I'll just be content catching a glimpse of them in your photos! :) They really are lovely, I love your choices!

Can't wait to see what you have in mind for Easter. :)

Have a wonderful weekend, and thank you again. xo~m.
