Night out and a funny sign

Every once in a while, you come across a funny sign. This little sign was taped to a door, near the bistrot that we had dinner.
My husband had been wanting to try this little bistrot in the Glen Park district of San Francisco for sometime. He has seen it on his way to work, and thought it would be a nice place to go to celebrate a nice bonus he received.
The owner really did an amazing job on reproducing a little bit of France in San Francisco. I really felt transported.
The restaurant is a bit dimly lit and small, so you will have to pardon my picture quality.

While I was snapping this photo and others of my two daughters, the older lady in the back, became quite upset with the flash. She ordered her daughter in law to tell us to stop taking pictures. For some reason, I thought that it was quite rude of her to do this. What if it was a birthday we were celebrating?! Anyway......
The owner of the place asked us if we would like him to take a group picture of us. I said, "I don't know, that lady over there told me to stop, so it might make her mad." He had a little twinkle in his eye and said, " Who said that?" He then started taking a bunch of pictures with the flash of us and other people sitting at the bar. The elderly lady was NOT pleased. I did feel a bit vindicated though.
For anyone out there that lives here in the Bay Area, you should give this little restaurant a shot. Cozy atmosphere and solid food. Check out their web site. L'ptit Laurant Bistrot

  4. Great looking family! And an inviting looking little restaurant.

Oh, some people can be such party-poopers.

It sounds like you had a fine time in spite of it! Good for you.

How did you like the food? I'm a nosey foodie, through and through you know. *grin* xo~m.

  5. oh!! i used to live up the hill from that place. it opened not too long before we moved down to l.a. didn't get a chance to try it as it was always crazy-busy. glad you had fun!

we've been to this place called chou chou which is in the forest hills (?) neighborhood in sf. the restaurant is not quite as cozy looking as this place (just different, like pink tablecloths) but very nice staff and super yummy food.

  6. Cindy, I tried going on the link you had on the comment, but it didn't go anywhere :(

Kelly, let me know what types of restaurants and other types of places you would like to visit and I could steer you in the right direction.

    Thanks Erin!

Mari, the food was very typical of a average bistro in France. It is quite a popular restaurant,as the owner once was co partners with the another chef who owned "Clementine," in the Richmond district. Laurent moved on and opened this place.I loved the atmosphere and the owner. I had a rabbit dish that was pretty tasty, but my salad with frisse and lardons missed a tiny bit for me. I would go back though to give it another shot, mainly because the owner and the restaurant were so charming.

  7. Jen,
That is such a cute area,Glen Park) it really reminded me of part of a village in France somewhere. Maybe that is why Laurent moved there.
