I lucked out with the buttons matching the fabric big time! The sales lady at Stone Mountain and Daughter, in Berkeley, spotted these little gems from a huge wall of buttons, and they were perfect. I love that store by the way :)
Couldn't resist putting this one in ;)
I'm off to go bake a peach pie, and contemplate my next sewing adventure.
I'm guessing by the smile on Caitlin's face, that she is pleased with her new dress.
It looks fabulous on her!
ReplyDeletesuper cute! i love the button and rick rack details :D
ReplyDeleteDear dear Elizabeth, I never tire of seeing your sewn creations. This one did not disapoint. One of your loveliest.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pattern, fabric, buttons, trim. And the model, well, that's a beautiful gimme. Well done. Can't wait to see your next undertaking.
I always wanted to play the piano. You make me want to add "stellar seamstress" to my wish list.
Dawn
Great job! I'm thinking she likes it.
ReplyDeleteOh my god, beaver smile, on the last one! creep!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! I am so smitten with this dress! Great job!
ReplyDeletethe dress is gorgeous and so perfect for caitlin! it almost looks like her in the fabric. you always make the most wonderful things and i love the buttons and rick rack details.
ReplyDeleteI love the style of the dress and the fabric. I'd love one just like it. I'd also like to look like Caitlin does wearing it!!
ReplyDeleteHope your sister is having fun--is she from CA too? I think it is due to cool off today. We had a good rain last evening that left 3/4 of an inch and a cool down.
Good news--the remonstrance period for the new library was over this past Monday and there were NO remonstrants. That was the biggest hurdle we faced.
Best,
Bonnie
She is so adorable! You are a wonderful seamstress Elizabeth!
ReplyDeleteThe dress is very cute and it looks perfect on her.
ReplyDeleteVery nicely done. Which pattern did you use?
You did such a good job, it looks fab.
ReplyDeletePerfection! Even Caitlin's lipstick matches.
ReplyDeleteElizabeth: Thanks for your nice comments!!
ReplyDeleteWe've (knock on wood) never had problems flying during the Christmas season. Snow, yes--sometimes quite a bit. Both airports seem well prepared. We've had our worst travel nightmares in mid-May! We once sat on the tarmac for SEVEN hours trying to get to Hawaii!! I told Andrew that if it ever happened again, I was going to throw a fit and tell the crew I was claustrophobic!! That was on United. Whenever possible, we fly Southwest. A little cramped but usually on time.
Have a good weekend.
Best,
Bonnie
Looks great! :) I love the colors and all of the details! A perfect dress for summer!
ReplyDeleteyou bet !!!
ReplyDeletegorgeous gorgeous gorgeous !
how talented you are Elizabeth !
and the dress owner looks so pretty as usual
Oh, I love that mermaid fabric so much! I have a stash of it just waiting for inspiration to hit. I want to find the perfect project for it. I'd make a wee dress for Adeline, but she's growing so fast that she'd be in and out of it in no time.
ReplyDeleteFirst off, Elizabeth, a word about your daughter. She is not just adorable, she has a classic look about her - there is something very special in her smile. Next she looks like a stylist picked that dress out for her. The colors, the pattern, the fit - suits her classic look to a T. I say - job well done, very well done. Carolina
ReplyDeletereally cute!
ReplyDeleteFantastic dress and your daughter is gorgeous . . . I made a dress for my 7-year-old with the same material and also have it on my log. I love reading about your creations and your impressions of everything. Thanks for sharing them!
