Next up

Coming off the confidence of my Liberty blouse. I'm going to attempt this Tracy Reese Pattern, with this pretty Anna Maria Horner fabric. Wish me luck, because as always, I need it when I sew something for myself. I will most likely cut it out tomorrow, as I have to now do a marathon reading of my library book, that is due Saturday, and they would not let me renew it.
Thought I would include the necklaces I bought at the Renegade Craft Fair last weekend. One is from the artist that I already bought the bracelet from, and I regretted not getting the necklace. The other one is from The Black Apple. I tried to buy one from her blog a while back, and they sold out quickly. I was very happy to see that she had them for sale at the fair. I think it looks kinda cute with the fabric, don't you?

Here in our neck of the woods, we have been having the mildest summer that I can remember. I for one am not complaining! Usually, my sister and I are on the phone complaining all summer long about how hot it is, and how we can't wait for fall. This year has been so very pleasant and mild, I feel like summer flew by. The light that is casting in on my dinning area, looks so much like it does in the fall. In a couple weeks time, Caitlin will be back in school and it will really feel like summer has ended!
I always get super lazy at this time of year, and my posts are sparse, sorry about that, to the few readers that I have. I end up looking at other fellow bloggers for inspiration and just to escape a bit, but I'm finding that everyone else seems to be in the same mood I'm in, because I don't see a lot of updates. At least I'm not the only one. Hopefully, I will be able to show you this dress when it is done, and it won't be a complete disaster, and balled up in a drawer somewhere!

  1. You'll do fine!
Can't wait to see the finished dress.

    Have fun.

  2. Another gorgeous fabric, Elizabeth! It will look beautiful on you. The necklace is the perfect accessory.

  3. girl, i hear ya! :) i keep meaning to update the olde blog but alas, i'd much rather eat ice cream.

oh, i don't want to comment on the weather for fear i'll jinx it. ;)

    best wishes with dress-making!

  4. The fabric and pattern are spectacular. I can see you in it in a number of chic restaurants in the area!!

    I have two questions:

    1. Why wouldn't the library let you renew the book?

    2. You know fabric. I need a source to purchase some fabric for a table cloth or two. Any suggestions? Something a little heavier than calico I think.

  5. the dress will be gorgeous in that fabric! you'll do a beautiful job with it. i envy your weather - it has been hot as blazes here. enjoy your weekend!

  6. I have the same Anna Maria Horner fabric! It is patiently waiting in line. The drape of that fabric is surreal, and I can just imagine it blowing softly in the breeze once your fall days arrive. I am taking a skirt workshop with Anna Maria at the end of August - this makes it very difficult to focus on anything else. I am sure the dress will be lovely. Carolina

  7. Oh I wish I could go to the Renegade Craft Fair! Can't wait to see what you make!

  8. You are like me - more projects than you can shake a stick at. If you do the Serendipity jacket in velvet, I think it would be awesome - especially if you embroider something on the inside of the neck or inside the cuff. I'm giddy waiting to see what you do. Did you tell me you were getting the Kaffe Fassett book too? Is that what you meant by" Alicia's book"? Let me know. Carolina
PS Don't let me know about the Tres Leches cake, I am holding my own off the white stuff for now, I couldn't handle that level of temptation.

  9. Love your renegade pics! And the fabric! Yes, the summer here in San Diego has been so mild I have hardly worn shorts this year. (!!!!). Crazy. I don't mind too much except that when Fall comes along, I don't look forward to the relief it brings as much as I have in past years. Oh well... maybe next year<3

  10. As always, I am looking forward to seeing our completed project! What book were you reading?

  11. I was sooo excited to see your comment over on Posie Gets Cozy that I hopped right on over here. I wanted to see the organized space - the sewing progress- what a way to tease me, Elizabeth. I will check again tomorrow. Carolina
