Easter with the family

Are you in a food coma this morning?! I tried to be good, and this morning I was surprised that I feel fine even with all the treats that were consumed. Nicole and Pierre spent the night, so that we could all have brunch together. We had a nice relaxing morning, with plenty of coffee, and chat.
We just recently got a very nice French bakery in our near by town, that make pretty close to French pastries that I have seen since we moved back from France. Their croissants are the correct shape, and I would say as close as it gets. The name of the bakery is "La Boulange."
Must have some healthy fruit included :)
That one very lonely cinnamon roll is a gluten free option for Nicole. She said it was pretty good.
The day was mixed with a few showers earlier in the day, but then the glorious sunshine came out, along with all the birdies singing joyfully outside. Some how I think they knew it was Easter!
This was a pretty fun little flower arrangement to put together. I cleaned out some eggs, then
used the many egg cups that we own, and placed the little chicks with their green mom.

The Easter bunny brought these for us, since we have been all good, and patiently waiting for our chocolate.

We had to have a little photo shoot outdoors, since it was so beautiful.
The Easter sisters
Playful fun on the grass
Sweet faces, and pretty Easter colors

Time to eat! This year I used fingerling potatoes, and for the side dish I made baby artichokes, with mint, lemon, and parsley. Like I said last year, this lamb recipe from "Fine Cooking," is wonderful, and it was just as good this time around as well.

As requested by the family, the cheesecake, from the very same issue of "Fine Cooking."

Nice day, and now there are so many left overs, that I don't have to cook tonight!
Hope everyone had a beautiful Easter Sunday!

  3. OK, I've never seen the food look lovelier, the girls more enchanting. You've outdone yourself, Elizabeth.
The egg "vases" alone were worthy of their own post!!!!

  6. The eggs with flowers in them? Brilliant. I don't know why that idea had never occurred to me.
On another note - where is that Etsy shop? I am dying to see it. Carolina

  7. Lovely--the table, the menu and, especially, the girls! I know you will miss your oldest but what an adventure they will have. And what a nice place you will have to visit.

    Best,
    Bonnie

  9. Hi Elizabeth, I just happened upon the most incredible seller on ebay and it made me think of you. The sellers name is Au Fil Du Temps. They have antique french embroidery patterns and antique sewing patterns that are so gorgeous! I wish I could send a link but can't via this "comment." Your Easter looks to have been so lovely! And, we Love La Boulange! There is one in my hometown of Novato that we frequent and I was so excited to go to the Lafayette location! Small world!
    Cheers! ~Cece
