Golden November

Ok, what happened to most of November? I feel like I just got back from London and life just fast forwarded at the speed of light! Seems like it took forever to get back in the groove of the daily routine and we were only gone for a week. Oh well. Now I'm back in my work room and I've started on more hats and cut out some bloomers and one other garment in chocolate colored velveteen. I'll show you that later as I get closer to completing them. For now, I'm concentrating on the hats, since they are a good gift item for the holidays and I only have one left in the shop in a large size.  I have my heart set on going to my favorite fabric store to pick up this faux fur that I saw last time, that I think would be adorable with some of the color of ribbons that I just bought. The fur is like a snow leopard.....so just picture how cute that would be!  I'm also planing my Thanksgiving dinner this week and finalizing what I'm going to make. My dad and step mom will be here this year, and I'm excited to see them, as it has been quite a while since last time we visited in Chicago.  Our weather has finally changed dramatically and it is raining today. Perfect for sewing with a nice hot cup of tea. Speaking of which it's waiting for me, and so are my hats.   I also want to show you a couple of beautiful prints I bought on Etsy for the spare room, so stay tuned for that.  Catch you up sooner than later..................

  1. I'm anxious to read what you're having for Thanksgiving. We've tried inviting people over, but it looks like it will just be the four of us, and I think Megan is doing all the planning and cooking. Me, I'm in charge of pies.

    1. I'm getting a bit worried as I haven't settled on any interesting sides yet. Caitlin is coming this weekend, perhaps we can brainstorm. I know I'm doing a lot of prep so I don't have to sweat it out on the day!

  2. I just glanced down at today's date on my computer, and I can not believe it's mid November. Time is passing too quickly. I wish I could slow things down, and keep my daughter little forever. It's really amazing when you have a child how quickly time passes. Sorry, I didn't mean to write a book here. I think I just realized that Christmas is just right around the corner. And yes, I am very excited about Thanksgiving next week, too!

    1. Right? A year never seems long to me anymore! The older you get the faster it feels I think.

  3. Beautiful photos and I agree November flew by. The kids have so many days off from school too which gets me all disoriented. The hats are a great gift idea. All the pieces sound lovely.

  4. I just sent the link of your etsy shop to my friend, Kathy. She has grandchildren ... Well a toddler and one on the way! I think your little hats are absolutely scrumptious !!! Fall is in full swing, here, on the mountain... And we are getting ready for Thanksgiving. This year we are smoking our turkey - a first for us. Many folks in this area fry their turkey. I have never had that or the famous turducken. I am also trying a new recipe for a pumpkin and apple gallete I saw on FOOD 52. Good luck with your cooking.

  5. Autumn here tends to be a soggy affair and I have promised the family a visit (school allowing) to W.C. one autumn soon but the kids are already excited about next summers visit, until then I can see what we are missing here and via beyond the creek.
