Book and pattern love

I've been wanting this book for a long time! Since I have been reduced to being at home a lot. I decided to shop at everyone's favorite on line book shop, Amazon. I bought this book and the one farther down the page. If you ever find yourself in San Francisco, you must stop in at Tartine. It is in the Mission district, and the parking is terrible, but oh so worth trying to get there, I suppose you could always take a cab.
I read the recipe for their croissants, and I must say, they sound doable. I think I will wait for the fall to attempt these, and if I get good enough, perhaps they will be a feature at Christmas time. I read some of the reviews on Amazon about this book, and many people have made the croissants with great luck. I've always been a bit intimidated to make these, but I think I will give these a try.
Saturday, I ordered a new sewing chair. Given that my back is always ready to be unhappy, I decided that if I am going to attempt sewing again, I need a better chair for my back. Just got a call today saying that it has arrived! I'm so excited to start making some of the above patterns, for me and for Caitlin. The Cynthia Rowley one will be the first on the list, because I decided to use my Liberty of London fabric, that I purchased eons ago.
The other book that I ordered was this one. I have thumbed through it many times at the book store, and decided that I really liked several of the projects in this book.

Isn't this apron cute?!
I think I fell in love with it when I saw the the back of it.

Hopefully I can start sewing next week, after I get the sewing room back in order and cut some patterns out.
Here in Northern California, the weather has been rainy and quite cold, perfect sewing weather! I read we are still in for rain off and on, at least until next week!

  4. Oh everything looks divine - I would like a feature when you make the croissants - they seem so mysterious to me! I cannot wait to see your LofL fabric too, and that amy butler pattern is pretty sweet too!! And last but not least, the apron is extraordinary!! I LOVE the back too! The weather down here has been ok, but I am ready for a So Cal summer, if you know what I mean!!

  5. A whole new blog? No! It's all I can do to keep up with one. The only thing that's holding me back from photos of the house is my camera. When I take photographs, it just doesn't do justice to what I'm photographing. I'm working on it--maybe a new camera is the ticket!!

My wonderfully creative quilter, knitter, sewing, jewelry making friend is coming to visit from Fond du Lac. She asked me several weeks ago what craft I wanted to do. I said I'd like to make aprons!! I really like both of your patterns--for the "smock" (luscious with a Liberty of London pattern I'm sure) and the apron. I want to see the finished products.

    Hope you are healing faster!

    Best,
    Bonnie

  9. I just discovered a new "restaurant" at our Whole Foods on Sunday. It's like a 50's diner. I guess it's been there all along. I must not have had my head up when I passed by it!!
