Early Christmas present for me

Thought I would take a break from doing a pile of laundry and wrapping presents, to show you my recent cookbook splurge. I had read on a blog that this book was very hard to come by in English, and if you see one, you should snap it up. I saw one copy wedged in between two huge cookbooks in our local Barnes and Noble. Since I know their packaging quite well, I spotted it instantly, and bought it right away. Only the French would package this cookbook like this!
Look at the pretty violet tissue paper, and the cover of the actual book! I'm in LOVE!!!
They gave up some of their recipes for their infamous macarons. In the new year I will attempt these. I love how in the recipe, it tells you that you may not get it right the first time, and there will be some cracks possibly, but not to give up.
How cute it this?!!! I was kind of sad that this was not in the book though. The link I referenced to, was the blog that I found out the information on this book. You will get lost in that blog I tell you!
This was the other recent book I bought, after seeing the pastry chef on Martha Stewart. Her desserts looked wonderful, and the book is beautiful.


Wouldn't all of those be fun to make?! Perhaps this may give you some good ideas for the bakers on your list this year.
I have two other books that I have my eye on that I will share if I acquire them soon ;)

  2. I am the baker, I am also the eater. Hence it would behoove me to try one of your macaroons (with or without cracks) ONLY if I walk from Tennessee to your house to eat them. The Sucre book looks divine. Now that I know it exists my eyes will be scanning for it. Carolina

  5. Ooh, Laduree macarons! I've had a go at making them and whilst not perfect they weren't as fiddly as I thought they might be.

    i'm getting rose macarons tomorrow; they're not laduree but will have to do until my next trip to france!

  9. These are all lovely books-I just bought the Lauderee book in Paris-I did not know it came in English so there will be some translating that needs to be done. I also love Sarabeth's. I must admit only the French would wrap a book so beautifully.

  12. The Religieuse Rose is kind of in there. They give the Choux a la Rose recipe, which is the same . . . except you need to make one normal one and one baby one to go on top. Then you need to find a way to get raspberries to hide in the middle of the big puff. Fun book though, no matter what, right?!
